Changing Passwords



If you receive the message "Access Denied" when logging on then you must change your password.

REMEMBER
1) Passwords must be changed every thirty days and cannot be reused within 18 months.

2) Passwords must be exactly 8 characters long and must contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers (all three elements are required).

3) Mouse Right Click will not Copy or Paste to the Security Password field.

Process to change Password:

1) Using any Windows compatible word processing editor: Notepad, Word, Word Perfect or WordPad, type in the text to change your password using the following format:

oldpassword/newpassword/newpassword

2) Highlight the text you have typed in by pressing Shift + Home (highlights and moves cursor left) or Shift + End (highlights and moves cursor right)

3) Press Ctrl + C to copy the text to your clipboard

4) Go to Security Logon screen

5) Type in your Userid, and tab to the Password field

6) Press Ctrl + V to paste your text from your clipboard. The password will be encrypted.

7) Click on OK.

IMPORTANT
8) Click on CANCEL when you have been returned to the first screen to check the results of your password change request.

9) If your password change has been successful you will receive the message "Password changed. Enter new password to continue."

If your password change attempt was not successful you will receive an error message.

Possible causes for a password change request being refused are:
a. User Name or Password incorrect or
b. Password not initiated for User Name or
c. Revoked after 3 tries.

The password must be reset for these types of errors. Contact Bureau of State Payrolls via e-mail address for this request.
